Harry’s Home Again

In the summer of 2007, I took my first watercolor class doing landscapes. I was house-sitting at the time for a friend who left two dogs in my care. One was Harry, an old German Wirehaired Terrier, who has since passed on. I found Harry to be a MUCH more interesting muse than mountains and trees.

I recently dug him out of my archives and photographed him. This allowed me to release the original painting to his “Mom” who dearly misses him and will always hold him in her heart as her dearest of dogs. I am thrilled that he is now where he belongs. Blessings to them both.  (click image to enlarge)

  1. Kim,
This is one soulful dog. I like him so much. Other words come to mind too — compassionate, sensitive, thoughtful, patient, long-suffering. If this is anthropomorphizing, so be it — these qualities do leap out at me from your wonderful portrait.
Thanks for doing the work and sharing it, after six years of that mysterious ripening process.
Hats off to you and Harry too.

    • Yes, he was all that and more. “Such a sweet, sweet boy,” as Charlotte (his Mum) describes him. Thank you for your heartfelt impressions.
