Sketch-A-Day EUROPE 2014 — 17 of 21

Le Jardin du Luxembourg is an expansive garden in the 6th arrondissement of Paris.  Sculptures are peppered everywhere throughout its many promenades and this little lady was undeniably the cagiest of the bunch.  I HAD to sketch her.  She is Marguerite d’Angouleme (Reine De Navarre, 1492–1549).

  1. Hi Kim,
Cagey is a great description of this lady. Wonder what happened to her in the revolutionary upheaval. Do you know? Wouldn’t be surprised if she fled to Costa Rica.

  2. Just checked her dates again — she preceded the worst upheavals by a couple of hundred years. Definitely cagey.
