A Sailboat, A Ship, and a Mountain

Every time I sketch from this vantage point I’m amazed by Mt. Rainier’s size. This is a 5-minute pen & wash done during a recent hike. The red-hulled ship awaits entry into Elliott Bay’s port, and the lone sailboat is completely dwarfed by everything but the whitecaps. It was a beautiful late winter day—clear, sunny and brisk. Seattle’s been blessed with atypical weather this past year. I say, “Bring it on!”
