I unburied this bright drawing recently while cleaning out old files. It is many years old. My only recollection is that it was probably the first brainflash* I ever put on paper. Maybe that’s why I kept it. And, it’s an abstract which was an unusual genre for me years ago. It appears that I was experimenting with complementary color and reflective symmetry. Sounds good, eh? I really haven’t a clue.

* brainflash — my term for my ‘mind’s eye’ vision of some composition that flashes, for a split second, when my eyes are closed and I’m trying to sleep. These visions are often so vivid I recall them the next day and put them to paper. It’s quite wonderful, but when my brain decides to let in a parade of these, I can’t quiet them. End result? Insomnia.

  2. I love the colors, and I’m sure that brainflashes have something to do with genius!
