Happy Solstice!

Whether you’re heading to the Fremont Solstice Parade, the Edmonds Art Fest, the beach, or your own backyard, ENJOY THE DAY. It’s a gorgeous summer solstice in the Puget Sound area. And don’t forget your sunscreen, hat, and water.

Dog Nap

There was not enough energy in this body today to exercise at lunch, due to a sleepless night. So I sat on a bench in the sun and played with Tayasui’s Sketches app some more on my iPhone.

I mostly just enjoyed making swirls with my fingers and then erasing each ‘canvas.’ But, this doodle seemed worth keeping. A not so subliminal message to myself — nap needed.

Boredom Averted

When you’re stuck at an airport all day waiting for a flight (e.g., recent Houston floods) and you’ve walked the entire length of said airport more than once, stopped for food and a beer, read an entire magazine, and people watched all you can stomach, try this…

Download an app and start learning it on your mobile device. I chose a drawing app called Sketches by Tayasui. It got great reviews and is super intuitive to use. I had a little trouble activating the finger swipe commands “undo” and “redo” but it may be the tempered glass layer protecting my iPhone. The free download gives you a few basic tools, color palette, and various background textures/colors. For layers, more tools, and various options, you pay a bit to upgrade. The interface is sleek and not at all cumbersome like so many of the drawing apps out there. It’s easy to jump right in and start creating.

YAY! Boredom averted. I played and played and here are a few of my jumbled abstracts using this slick little app.

Replies to “Penny for Your Thought (bubble)”

fish+friendsApplause and thank you all for the great thought bubbles/scenarios for Penny for Your Thought (bubble). Here is the lot of them:

  1. “Caught between a rockfish and an arse place.”
  2. “Don’t even think of evolving Mr. Fish, global warming is already here!”
  3. “Turn around . . . come on . . . just once . . . I dare ya!”
  4. “Would you like to live in a Yellow Submarine?”
  5. “Lunch?”
  6. “Hop on before he poops on you.”
  7. The whale/fish is pushing a small island and the bird’s like, “Thanks for the push.”
  8. “You guys need a lift?”
  9. “I see no ships…….”
  10. Villagers are posting guards and sending out scouts to the coastal beaches where the Great Yellow Fish has been sighted. Authorities warn to stay several feet away from the fish who’s mere breath is toxic and will kill instantly.
Two scouts sent out earlier today are missing and the search will continue to night fall.

Put on your thinking caps, ‘Ticklers’, and chime in. What thought bubble (or voice bubble) would you add to this?
